In a secret lab abandoned for decades, a terror from the past has stirred.
In a tunnel deep beneath an Alaskan mountain, a man is brutally murdered. The first in a series of grisly deaths. It is not long before whispers grow that the Qalupalik, a frightening creature born from centuries of superstition and fear, has come to wreak havoc on the remote coastal settlement of Shackleton, Alaska.
But the town hides a dark secret, and the real killer might be more terrifying than any local legend. Because deep beneath a crumbling tower once owned by the military lies a long-forgotten lab with a terrifying history.
When a pair of thieves break in to plunder the lab, they find more than they bargained for, and unleash the past in ways they could never imagine.
Now it’s up to disgraced ex-cop John Decker to do what no one else can. Stop a killer that should not exist.
Cold Sanctuary is part of the John Decker series, however, each book is a standalone novel and does not require you to have read the other books in the series.
What Readers are Saying:
★★★★★ Once I started reading this book, I absolutely could not stop. It has everything I love in a suspense thriller – nonstop action, chilling moments that send goosebumps down your spine, likable characters, wonderful and believable dialogue and interactions, a fast pace, and an awesome setting. And a bit of the mystique of the supernatural as icing on the cake. I haven’t had the pleasure of reading the first book in this series, or any other books by this author, but you can bet he’s going straight to the top of my list. – Donna Thompson, Goodreads review
★★★★★ I have been looking for books like those written by Douglas Preston/Lincoln Childs (since I devoured all of theirs) & I think I have found them! Hard to categorize . . . part thriller, part suspense, part horror/supernatural, all good! – Goodreads Review
★★★★★ John Decker is a “Monster Hunter” & I loved following his hunt for this monster! One way I judge a book is whether or not I will be looking for more by the author or in the series. This is definitely one that will add Anthony Strong to my TBR list! – Beverly Laude, Goodreads Review
★★★★★ I don’t usually write reviews or even read ‘horror’ books but stumbled across this late one night. I have not read the first book in the series (but I will now), while this is a stand-alone story for the most part it does give away spoilers to the first book so in hindsight, I would suggest reading in order. I enjoyed this book because it had copious amounts of tension and suspense but without the need for graphic violence or extreme profanity/ foul language. The writing was clever the plot good and you could relate to all the characters, the good the bad and the ugly. The lead character was strong while flawed which made him all the more believable. The ‘monsters’ were unique. I am looking forward to reading more in the series and hope the author continues to develop his characters. – Irish Lass, Amazon reader
★★★★★ This book was well written and I have really enjoyed this series of books. John Decker has become a proven monster hunter and I hope he continues his adventures in upcoming books. I highly recommend this book and the others in the series. — Amazon reader

The CUSP Files – A John Decker Spinoff series. Operative Colum O’Shea is sent to a small town to investigate a series of deadly occurrences. What they find is even more dangerous than he could imagine. There’s something wrong with Willow House. When a grieving author and his children buy a house to make a new start, they soon discover that it is not the tranquil haven they hoped it to be. A banshee wails for her victim. A phone app with unusual powers traps an unwary man. A fair comes to town, bringing death along for a ride. These and other macabre tales await in Crow Song, where anything is possible, and fear is never far away. One minute Hayden Stone is on his way to visit his brother in New York, the next he’s running for his life. People are becoming mindless killers, at least, those that don’t vanish. Worse, there are other things out there that should not exist. The first book in the John Decker supernatural thriller series.
